Together, the City of West Fargo and West Fargo Park District invites the public to visit http://bit.ly/WFplandraft and provide feedback on the city’s proposed comprehensive plan. The plan will become an officially adopted document that provides legal and policy direction to make decisions regarding future land uses, environmental quality and infrastructure improvements within the community.
“Our community has more than doubled in population and land area since 2000 and we will continue to grow,” said Mayor Rich Mattern. “This plan, based on input from the community, gives us direction on everything from community identity to transportation to economic development.”
The plan is broken into eight sections and allows visitors to comment on each section. All comments will be compiled, reviewed and integrated into the final draft of the plan. The sections includes big ideas on the economy, neighborhoods, housing choices, municipal transparency, redevelopment and more. It also includes a set of livability indicators designed to track progress in forestry, police, schools, parks, transportation, housing and economic development.
“I can’t stress enough that West Fargo residents review the plan and provide input,” said Mayor Mattern. “This plan not only represents the official blueprint for long-term, responsible change in West Fargo; it also represents our community through your input.”
An open house will be held 1 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 5 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, with public presentations during the City Commission meeting at 6 p.m. on March 5 and at noon on March 6, at the West Fargo City Hall. The open houses provide an additional opportunity for residents to meet with city officials and provide feedback.
